Tina Dabi, a renowned IAS officer, gained prominence after securing the All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2015. Her sister, Ria Dabi, has also distinguished herself in India’s civil services, establishing her own identity. Both Tina and Ria are accomplished UPSC officers, with Ria from the 2020 batch achieving an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 16.

Ria Dabi’s rank of 16 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2020 is especially significant, as her elder sister Tina Dabi was the top ranker in the 2015 UPSC exam. Inspired by her sister’s success, Ria excelled in the challenging examination, realising her dream of becoming an IAS officer.

This year, the central government released a list of IAS officers following the promotions of Tina and Ria Dabi. The news led to comparisons of the sisters’ careers on social media, highlighting that while Tina took ten years to reach a certain milestone, Ria achieved it in four years.

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle in September 2024, the Bhajanlal government transferred 108 IAS officers. Of these, 98 were transferred, and 10 who were on awaited posting orders received assignments in the Industries Department.

According to a report by India.com, Ria Dabi’s promotion has been significantly faster than her elder sister. While Tina waited nearly 9–10 years for a promotion, Ria, who joined the IAS in 2021, was promoted in 2024, moving from the junior administrative scale to the senior administrative scale. Tina has now been posted as the Barmer District Collector.

Ria’s husband, Manish Kumar, is also in the Civil Services and was recently promoted to Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dungarpur district.

Ria completed her schooling at the Convent of Jesus and Mary in New Delhi and graduated from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi, with a degree in Political Science. At the age of 23, Ria Dabi cleared the UPSC on her first attempt, securing an All India Rank of 15.
