A new wave of unrest has emerged in Balochistan as armed attacks were carried out on Pakistani security forces in the Awaran, Quetta, and Kalat districts.
Recent attacks by Baloch freedom fighters have resulted in the deaths of 20 personnel, including a senior officer, Major Rab Nawaz.
The province has long seen unrest, driven by anger over resource extraction, lack of political representation, and heavy militarisation.
According to sources, Baloch independence activists are suspected of being involved in these attacks; however, no group has claimed responsibility for them yet.
The latest attacks have once again put the spotlight on Balochistan’s fragile security environment, where periodic armed rebellions continue to test Islamabad’s control over the mineral-rich region.
Security forces have launched an operation in the affected areas, and a search for the attackers is underway. The situation remains tense, with intense fear and panic among the people.
