What does TDP object to
In a letter written to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the Telugu Desam Party has said, the scope of SIR should be clearly told. Should be defined. The voter list should be limited to improvement and inclusion. This should also be clearly told that this process is not related to citizenship verification.
Five other leaders of the party have signed this letter written by TDP Parliamentary Party leader Lavu Sri Krishna Devleu. The TDP has clearly spoken to the Election Commission that it is not justified to ask for documents again from those who already have voter ID card.
After the letter was handed over to the Election Commission, TDP spokesperson Jyotsna Tirunagari told the Indian Express, “We have just met the Election Commission and as soon as we have been asked for suggestions, we have clarified our stand on the election process … We are members of a democratic party, and want transparency in the election process.”
In fact, TDP wants that there is nothing that will cause confusion in the people just before the election. The TDP letter states that the SIR process should be operated over time to ensure the trust and administrative preparation of the voters.
TDP stand is completely different from JDU
The TDP spokesperson may have introduced a disclaimer about a letter written to the Election Commission, but the party’s stand supports the stand of opposition parties in Bihar. Who says BJP, is completely different from JDU. Absolutely opposite.
The JDU seems to be standing in support of the Election Commission. JDU claims that there is a mess in the voter list. The voter list is not good. There are flaws. If there is an attempt to fix the disturbances, what is the problem?

TDP has also tried to explain that it does not have any problem with what is happening – in fact, is about timing. The TDP has also tried to tell from its behalf that it does not have problems with SIR, but there is a lot of objection to all this before the elections.
The TDP says that no such amendment in the voter list should be within six months of any major election – and if seen, this is the issue that the TDP has objected to the whole process.
TDP demands that if the voter list amendment is proposed in Andhra Pradesh in future also, then this process should be started soon, so that the voter can get full time for it. TDP MP Krishna Devarayalu says that assembly elections are to be held in Andhra Pradesh by 2029, not before that. If SIR is to be done then it should be started immediately.
Sir TDP’s objection is raising many questions? The question also arises because if the JDU does not have problems, then why does TDP have? TDP along with BJP is also standing at the same point where JDU politics is going on. TDP and JDU have supported the BJP government at the Center.
The question is also whether TDP feels that BJP can benefit from it? Has the TDP lost the JDU in this process, as was due to Chirag Paswan in the 2020 election, but JDU does not understand this. Because the TDP is not with SIR, it has objected to the process being done just before the election. This matter is even more entangled when JDU and TDP take different stands on the same issue, despite being in the same position.
