Indian football body confirms ISL on hold, awaits SC stance to decide fate

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has officially confirmed that the Indian Super League (ISL) has been put on hold for the upcoming 2025–26 season. The announcement came via an official statement released on July 12, where the federation cited the ongoing matter in the Supreme Court of India as the primary reason for the decision.

In its communication, the AIFF stated that the issue concerning the structure of Indian football is currently sub judice and that no further decisions regarding the ISL can be made until the Supreme Court provides its directions. This confirms weeks of speculation regarding the league’s status, which had already appeared uncertain amid growing reports of friction between the AIFF and its commercial partner, Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL).
