Amid screams and thick black smoke rising in the sky after an Air India plane crashed in Ahmedabad last week, a new video has emerged in which the students of the BJ Medical College hostel, where the plane with 242 onboard crashed, can be seen jumping off the balcony to save their lives.
In the video, which is being widely shared on social media platforms, the trainee doctors can be seen using bedsheets as ropes to climb down the hostel building after the plane crashed into their campus.
The MBBS students can be seen trying desperately to climb down from the second and third floors by tying their clothes to the balcony.
Air India’s flight AI171 from Ahmedabad and London Gatwick took off on Thursday afternoon but crashed minutes later, killing 241 out of the 242 people aboard, including passengers and crew. Just one passenger survived the horrifying disaster.
Although all on board, barring one lone survivor, died in the crash, nearly 30 people on the ground were charred to death from the impact.
The plane, nearly five minutes after it tookoff, plunged and crashed into the college hostel’s mess, where several students were having lunch at around 1:43 pm. Several medical students also lost their lives in the plane crash.
