The government has approved this amount for the use of the Chief Minister under the Capex Budget for 2024-25.
7 Fortuner and 1 Range Rover car will be purchased for Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The total price of these 8 cars will be Rs 3 crore. Of these, 4 vehicles will be kept in Delhi for different visits of the CM, while 2 cars will be kept in Srinagar and 2 cars in Jammu.
It has been approved by the state government. Regarding this, former Srinagar Mayor Junaid Mattoo has said that on one hand the MLAs have not received their first salary, while on the other hand the monarchy of Omar Abdullah is not decreasing.
Mattoo wrote on X- 7 new Toyota Fortuners and a new personal Range Rover Defender for the Honorable Duke of Essex. The CM’s convoy now lacks only one aircraft and one yacht at Dal Lake. The status of Jammu and Kashmir has reduced, but not that of Abdullah monarchy.

Controversy over salary of MLAs, 3 points…
- Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather has written a letter to the Jammu and Kashmir government regarding the first salary of the newly elected 90 MLAs of the Assembly. He has sought clarification from the government.
- Before the removal of Article 370, MLAs used to get salary, allowances and Constitution Development Fund (CDF) of Rs 3 crore. But now nothing is being found and it has not been fixed yet.
- Due to not getting all this, MLAs are not able to do any work in their constituencies. The salary should have been determined in the first assembly session in November. But the salary should be decided in the budget session in January.
