America’s Deputy NSA John Finer (Deputy National Security Advisor) said on Thursday that America is also in danger from Pakistan’s advanced missile program. These missiles can attack outside Asia and even America. This raises questions on Pakistan’s intentions.
Finer said that Pakistan has acquired advanced missile technology. This includes testing of long-range ballistic missile systems and large rocket motors. If this attitude of Pakistan continues then Pakistan will have the capability to attack not only Asia but also America.
Deputy NSA John Finer had come to deliver a speech at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

John Finer was talking here on the issue of reducing nuclear threats.
Pakistan is a new challenge for America
Finer said that Pakistan appears to be a threat to America’s security. According to Finer, there are only three countries which have nuclear weapons and the capability to launch missile attacks on America. These include Russia, China and North Korea. All three countries are against America. In such a situation, these steps of Pakistan are emerging as a new challenge for America.
Finer said,
This step of Pakistan is shocking because it has been an ally of America. We have expressed our concern to Pakistan many times. We have supported it through difficult times and look forward to maintaining a collaborative relationship going forward. In such a situation, this step of Pakistan forces us to question why it wants to acquire such a capability which can be used against us.

Pakistan’s 4 defense companies banned
On Wednesday, America had banned four defense companies of Pakistan for making long-range missiles. These also include Pakistan’s government aerospace and defense agency, National Development Complex (NDC). Apart from this, Affiliates International, Akhtar & Sons Private Limited, Rockside Enterprise have also been banned.
News agency ANI quoted America as saying that the four banned companies were providing necessary tools for Pakistan’s ballistic missile program. America will continue to take action against such activities in future also.

US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller gave information about the ban on Pakistani companies.
Shaheen series ballistic missiles made with the help of NDC
According to the US State Department, Pakistan’s Shaheen-series ballistic missiles have been developed with the help of NDC. Apart from this, Akhtar & Sons Private Company of Karachi is accused of helping NDC in purchasing missile related machines.
Earlier in April this year, America had banned three Chinese companies from supplying technology for Pakistan’s ballistic missile program. A company from Belarus was also included in this list.
In November 2019, Pakistan tested the Shaheen-1 missile capable of carrying nuclear weapons. Its range is up to 650 km. It can carry all types of weapons. Apart from this, Pakistan has also tested Shaheen-2 and Shaheen-3 missiles.

Pakistan’s missile program started in the 80s
Pakistan started its missile program Hatf in 1986-87. It was started under the leadership of the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto to counter India’s missile program.
In the Hatam programme, the Pakistan Defense Ministry had direct support from the army. Under this, Pakistan first successfully tested Hatf-1 and then Hatf-2 missiles. According to the BBC report, Hatf-1 was capable of hitting a range of 80 km and Hatf-2 was capable of hitting a range of 300 km.
Both these missiles became part of the army in the 90s. After this, Hatf-1 was developed and its strike range was increased by 100 kilometers. In 1996, Pakistan acquired ballistic missile technology with the help of China.
Then in 1997, Hatf-3 was successfully tested, which had a range of up to 800 kilometers. Amidst the tension with India from 2002 to 2006, Pakistan tested the maximum number of missiles.
