A massive fire broke out in the Special New Born Care Unit (SNCU) at Maharani Lakshmibai Government Medical College, Jhansi on Friday night. 10 children died in the accident. The young man who saved the children said – When the fire broke out, the doctors started running. I saved 4-5 children. Now I am receiving threats from the hospital administration for giving statements in the media. It is being said that how are you giving such statements. Jhansi district administration released photographs of dead bodies of 10 children. Said- It is wrong to talk about more deaths.

The accident happened around 10:30 pm. Fire broke out due to sparking in the oxygen concentrator, then there was an explosion. The fire spread throughout the ward. The ward boy used the fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire, but it had expired 4 years ago, so it did not work. Six fire brigade vehicles arrived on information. Broke the window and sprayed water. Seeing the huge fire, the army was called. The fire was brought under control in about 2 hours. 39 children were taken out safely by breaking the ward window.

On the other hand, before the arrival of Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, the road is being cleaned and lime is being added. However, after the matter came into limelight, the Deputy CM released a video and gave a statement. Said- He has asked the DM to take action against those who had sprinkled lime.

Here, after the accident, CM Yogi held a high level meeting. He ordered the Commissioner and DIG to submit the report within 12 hours. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, who reached Jhansi at 5 am, said – there will be three investigations into the accident. First– Health department will do it. second- The police will do it. Third- An investigation will be conducted by a magistrate. If any lapse is found, strict action will be taken against those responsible.
