A section of women have started a 4B movement like Korea. They say that they will neither have relations with men nor marry them until they get their rights.

Actually, the US Supreme Court had abolished abortion rights in 2022. Then Donald Trump supported this decision. After Trump’s victory, there is a fear among women that after his return to power, laws related to abortion will be made more strict.

Women believe Republicans will make it more difficult for them to access abortion.

The 4B movement started in South Korea in 2016. This was a movement similar to #MeToo, which talked about equality and rights for women. Starting from South Korea, this movement has reached Asia and now America. During the movement, women started refusing four things as a form of protest.

Women are turning their heads in protest

There have been more than 10 lakh engagements on posts related to the 4B movement. Whereas they have access to more than 4 crore accounts. In some posts, women have posted videos of getting their heads shaved. The women who do this say that they will not accept the standards of beauty set by the patriarchal society.

Generally, long hair and makeup are associated with the beauty of women. But the protesting women say that they will neither keep long hair nor wear makeup.

By posting such videos, women are supporting the 4B movement.

Women believe Trump is against their rights

Democratic candidate Kamala Harris made abortion a major issue during her election campaign. Whereas Trump had said that the three judges appointed by him had a major role in the decision against abortion rights in 2022.

According to CNN’s exit poll, Trump got 46% votes from women. Whereas 54% women voted for Harris. Whereas 56.5% men voted for Trump. Whereas only 43.5% men voted for Harris.

Young women took to social media to express their outrage that men supported a candidate who does not respect their right to own their bodies.

Abortion was banned during Trump’s tenure

Abortion was easy and legal in America until 1880. However, in 1873, abortion drugs were banned by passing the Comstock Law in the US Congress. By 1900, abortion was banned in almost all states.

Abortion could be done only when the pregnancy posed a threat to the mother’s life. In the 1960s, women started a movement for their rights. In 1969, Norma McCorvey challenged abortion laws. The case reached the US Supreme Court and he won. In 1973, the Supreme Court legalized abortion in America.

But on June 24, 2022, the US Supreme Court overturned this decision. After this, the constitutional protection given to women for abortion also ended.
