A day after Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra filed the nomination for her maiden electoral battle from Wayanad, her husband Robert Vadra on Thursday said he was “delighted” that Priyanka took a step thinking for herself. He also said Priyanka has received a lot of love in Wayanad.

“I am delighted that Priyanka is now taking the step of thinking for herself. She will work hard for herself, and campaign for herself. I think it has been 35 years since I have known her, I have seen her always working hard for others, for her family and for people of the country,” Vadra told news agency ANI.

“She (Priyanka) never thought for herself, but I am happy that the Congress thought of making her contest from Wayanad. I think, had Rajiv (Gandhi) Ji been alive, he would have been delighted,” he added.

Speaking further, Robert Vadra said, “Priyanka takes everyone with her, and I’m happy she decided to enter active politics.”

Responding to a question about him entering politics some time, Vadra said, “If people want me to enter active politics, I will make a decision accordingly.”

On actions by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against him, Vadra said, “People are aware of the truth, I have not done anything wrong and am ready to face the ED or the CBI.”

On Wednesday, days ahead of the Lok Sabha bypoll in Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi took out a massive roadshow in Kalpetta and thanked the people of the Hill district for supporting her brother Rahul Gandhi when “the whole world had turned its back” on him.

Accompanied by her mother and Congress Parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, brother Rahul, and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge among others, Priyanka filed her nomination for the November 13 bypoll at the collectorate in Wayanad.
