Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson recently said that it was decided that he would play in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024. But 10 minutes before the toss, Rohit Sharma told him that he was out of the team.
Sanju said in an interview on Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel, I was disappointed by this, but due to Rohit Sharma’s way of explaining, I agreed and my respect for him increased further. Samson is playing for Kerala in Ranji Trophy these days.
I was told to be ready on the morning of the finals Sanju, who recently scored his first century in T-20, said, ‘I was getting a chance to play in Barbados on the morning of the final. I was told to be ready. I was ready but before the toss I was told that we would go without any changes. I was disappointed by this. When the warm-up was going on, Rohit Bhai came and took me aside and started explaining to me why I was taking such a decision.
Sanju further said, he explained to me and said in a very casual manner, ‘Sanju, have you understood?’, I said – I absolutely understand. Let’s play the match, then we will talk after winning. After this the Indian captain said, no you are telling me a lot in your mind. I feel like you are not happy. There is something in your mind.
Sanju said, ‘No, no Rohit Bhai, it is nothing like that.’ After this the conversation started again between us and he said that if you ask me as a player, I have to play.

My dream since childhood was to play World Cup for India: Samson Samson said that he has only one regret that he could not play the World Cup final under the captaincy of a leader like Rohit Sharma. But he is happy that Rohit left the focus on other players and explained to him before the match, this touched his heart. He told Rohit that since childhood it was my dream to play the World Cup for India. I respect your decision.

Samson is sad about not playing the World Cup final.
