Cyclonic storm Dana, which originated from the Andaman Sea, will reach the Bay of Bengal by October 23. It will hit the Odisha-West Bengal coast on October 24. The Meteorological Department has not given information about the landfall of the cyclone. It is estimated that it may hit Puri. Saudi Arabia has given the name Dana to the storm. Dana means generosity.

According to Meteorological Department officials, the wind speed on the Odisha-West Bengal coasts is expected to reach 60 Kmph from October 23, which will increase to 120 Kmph from the night of October 24 to the morning of October 25.

IMD Director General Mrityunjay Mahapatra said, some places in the coastal area of ​​Odisha-Bengal may receive 20 cm rainfall on October 24-25. At some places, more than 30 cm i.e. 11 inches (one foot) of rain may occur.

Low pressure starts forming from today, cyclone in 3 days The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen in Odisha-Bengal not to go into the sea from October 23 to 26. IMD said that low pressure will start forming in the Andaman Sea by Monday (October 21) afternoon. By October 22, it will turn into a deep depression over east-central Bay of Bengal. By October 24, it will turn into a cyclone.

West Bengal: Very heavy rain is likely over East Medinipur, West Medinipur, South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas, while Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly and Jhargram may receive heavy rain between October 23 and 24.

Odisha: A red alert has been issued for isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) with extremely heavy rainfall (more than 20 cm) and lightning for Puri, Khurda, Ganjam and Jagatsinghpur districts on 24 October. There is a possibility of storm.

Andhra Pradesh: The weather bulletin said that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Andhra Pradesh also.

What are the preparations to deal with the cyclone? Odisha government has put all the district collectors on alert. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said the state is fully prepared to deal with the situation. Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and fire service personnel are on standby.
