The first list of Congress for Maharashtra Assembly elections will be released on October 20. The party’s Maharashtra election screening committee met on October 16 at Himachal Bhawan in Delhi. Ramesh Chennithala, party in-charge for the assembly elections, said, ‘We will have another meeting on October 20. After which the candidates will be announced.

On the other hand, BJP also held a meeting of the Central Election Committee in Delhi and discussed the party candidates. BJP sources said that discussions have taken place on more than 100 seats. The names of the candidates can be announced in the next seven days.

The Election Commission announced Maharashtra Assembly elections on 15 October. Voting will be held on all 288 seats of Maharashtra in a single phase on November 20. The result will come on 23rd November. The tenure of Maharashtra Assembly will end on 26 November.

BJP reduced from 23 to 9 in Lok Sabha elections, Maratha reservation is the biggest challenge

In Maharashtra, there is a government of Mahayuti i.e. Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP Ajit Pawar faction. Anti-incumbency and division of votes among six big parties will be a big challenge for Sadhna Party.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, out of 48 seats in Maharashtra, INDIA alliance got 30 seats and NDA got 17 seats. Of these, BJP got 9, Shiv Sena got 7 and NCP got only 1 seat. BJP lost 23 seats. NDA had got 41 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In 2014 this figure was 42. That means less than half.

According to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP will be reduced to around 60 seats. In a survey of the opposition alliance, MVA i.e. Mahavikas Aghadi has been estimated to get 160 seats out of 288 seats in the state. Maratha movement is the biggest challenge for BJP. Apart from this, people have sympathy with Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar after the sabotage in Shiv Sena and NCP.

  • There was BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in 2019. BJP won 105 seats and Shiv Sena won 56 seats. From the alliance, NCP got 54 seats and Congress 44 seats. BJP-Shiv Sena would have easily come to power, but the alliance broke due to differences of opinion.
  • On 23 November 2019, Fadnavis took oath as the Chief Minister and Ajit Pawar as the Deputy Chief Minister. This was an early morning oath. But both of them resigned on 26 November 2019, before the majority test. On 28 November 2019, Maha Vikas Aghadi of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress came to power. After this there was rebellion between Shiv Sena and NCP and 4 parties were formed. Sharad and Uddhav got the lead in the Lok Sabha elections. Assembly elections will be held in all these backgrounds.

2024 election year: Elections held in 6 states including Lok Sabha In 2024, along with the Lok Sabha, assembly elections were held in 4 states – Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. BJP alone could not cross the majority mark in the Lok Sabha, but with the help of its allies it formed the government for a record third consecutive time. Modi became the first non-Congress face to become PM for the third time.

At the same time, BJP formed government with TDP in Andhra Pradesh. Chandrababu Naidu became CM. For the first time in Odisha, BJP formed the government with full majority under the leadership of Mohan Chandra Majhi. BJP formed government in Arunachal for the third consecutive time. The ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) formed the government in Sikkim.

In Haryana, BJP is going to form the government for the record third time by winning 48 seats. Till now no political party has formed the government in the state for three consecutive terms. Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and Congress are going to form a coalition government in the elections held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years. Congress-NC alliance won 48 seats. BJP won 29 seats. 15 years ago in 2009 also, Congress and NC coalition government was formed. Umar was then 38 years old and became the youngest Chief Minister of the state.
