Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu said that his country’s ‘Maldives First’ policy will not affect India’s relations. He said that Maldives will never do anything that will harm India’s security. In an interview given to Times of India, Muizzoo also said that Maldives’ relations with other countries will not affect its relations with India.

Muizzu said Maldives will continue to build strategic relations with India as India is an important partner and friend. He said Maldives will continue to work closely with India for regional stability and security.

Muizzu said that relations between Maldives and India have always been strong. He is sure that this visit will further strengthen it. This is President Muizzu’s first bilateral visit to India, although earlier he had attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June.

Muizzu is holding a bilateral meeting with PM Modi at Hyderabad House. After this he will hold a meeting with President Draupadi Murmu and other senior officials.

Apart from this, Muizzu will visit Delhi as well as Mumbai and Bengaluru and participate in some programs.
