Two years after the central government’s decision on Agniveers, CISF and BSF on Thursday announced to give 10% reservation to former Agniveers. Preparations have been started for this. Rules will be implemented soon.

BSF DG Nitin Agarwal and CISF DG Neena Singh gave this information. Actually, on June 18, 2022, the Home Ministry had issued a notification in this regard. It said that 10% reservation will be given to former Agniveers in CAPF and Assam Rifles. BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and CISF Armed Forces come under CAPF.

CISF said, 5 years relaxation in first batch and 3 years relaxation in next batch

  • CISF DG Neena Singh He said, ‘In future, 10% jobs will be reserved for former Agniveers in all recruitments of constables. There will be no need to give physical test. Age relaxation will be given. The first batch will have age relaxation of 5 years, but from the next batch this relaxation will be only of 3 years.’
  • BSF DG Nitin Agarwal He said, ‘The soldiers have got 4 years of experience through the Agniveer scheme. They have become fully disciplined and trained. This is very good for the BSF. After training, the selected Agniveers will be deployed on the border.’

Know what is Agnipath Scheme…
The government launched the Agnipath scheme in 2022. Under this, youth are recruited on contract for four years in the Army, Navy and Air Force. Six months of training is also included in 4 years. After four years, Agniveers will be given a rating based on their efficiency. On the basis of this merit, 25% of Agniveers will be taken into permanent service. The rest will return to the civil world.

In this scheme, soldiers below the officer rank will be recruited. That is, their rank will be as Personal Below Officer Rank i.e. PBOR. The rank of these soldiers will be different from the current appointment of commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers in the army. Recruitment will be done through rally twice a year.

To become an Agniveer, one must be between 17.5 and 21 years old. Also, one must have passed at least 10th standard. Agniveers recruited with 10th standard will be given a certificate equivalent to 12th standard after completing 4 years of service.
