Foreign Minister Jaishankar is on a two-day visit to Switzerland. During this, he participated in the program of the Geneva Center for Security Policy.
Foreign Minister Jaishankar said on Thursday (September 12) that the border dispute with China has been resolved to some extent. He said that 75% of the work related to the withdrawal of troops on the LAC has been completed. The Foreign Minister also said that the issue of increasing militarization on the border is still serious.
Speaking on the sidelines of a summit in Geneva, Switzerland, Jaishankar said that the Galwan clash between China and India in 2020 has badly affected the relations between the two countries. The Foreign Minister said that after the violence on the border, no one can say that the rest of the relations will not be affected by it.
Jaishankar said that talks are going on between the two countries. The proximity of the armies of the two countries on the border is a big issue. He also said that if the border dispute is resolved, then it is possible to improve India-China relations.

Jaishankar will meet Chinese Foreign Minister today Today is the last day of Jaishankar’s two-day visit to Switzerland. During this time he will also meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Bilateral relations between India and China are at their lowest point. Since 2020, the armies of both the countries have been standing face to face in Ladakh.
However, the process of withdrawal of troops started from February 2021, which is continuing till now.
Speaking at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, Jaishankar said the withdrawal of troops from the border and peace were important for normalising relations between the two countries.
Even before this, there have been several discussions between Jaishankar and Wang Yi regarding early resolution of the border dispute.

During his visit to Russia, Ajit Doval also met Russian President Vladimir Putin.
What happened in Galwan Valley? On 15 June 2020, China had gathered troops in the border areas of Eastern Ladakh on the pretext of exercise. After this, incidents of infiltration took place at many places. The Indian government also deployed troops equal to China in this area.
The situation got so bad that bullets were fired on the LAC. During this time, 20 Indian soldiers were martyred in a clash with the Chinese army in the Galwan Valley on June 15. Later, India also gave a befitting reply to this. About 60 Chinese soldiers were killed in this.
