Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Semicon India 2024 exhibition at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida today i.e. on 11 September. This event will run till 13 September in Knowledge Park 2. Leading semiconductor manufacturing companies from around the world will participate in this exhibition. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this program today at 11 am. CM Yogi Adityanath will be present with him.

SEMI and Messe Muenchen India are partnering with the Electronic Industries Association of India – ELCINA for this event to help develop India’s semiconductor industry.

According to the schedule of Semicon India 2024, the exhibition will be held on all three days from September 11 to 13 from 10 am to 6 pm. In which semiconductor manufacturers from all over the world will set up their stalls.

Here the discounts available under the Semiconductor Policy have been explained through banners.

These seminars will be held in three days

  • On the first day, a workshop on smart manufacturing will be organized. A presentation will also be made on the semiconductor ecosystem in India.
  • The second day will feature sessions on Cross Regional Partnerships, Flexible Hybrid Electronics, Supply Chain Management, Mighty Industry Academia Workshop and Sustainability.
  • The last day will feature a package manufacturing bootcamp by Micron, a presentation on the journey of semiconductors so far by IESA, and an introduction to semiconductor fabrication by ISA.

Skill development and employment opportunities will be created in UP

Semicon India Exhibition-2024 is being organized along with Electronica India and Productronica India. These are the largest electronics industry fairs in South-East Asia. Many domestic and foreign companies are participating in it. They will meet local leaders and government officials here. They will understand the investment perspective. They will look at India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem, so that they can get new opportunities to expand their business.

To advance technological development in the country and meet domestic demand, the India Semiconductor Mission (an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) has attracted big companies like AMD, Applied Materials and Micron Technology to invest in its chip sector. The government also intends to promote the semiconductor industry in the state, so that the state can be made a hub of semiconductor industries like many other sectors. If this happens, avenues of employment will be created.

This will be the benefit of investing under semi-conductor policy

  • Under UP Semiconductor Policy, 50% additional capital subsidy will be given over and above the capital subsidy approved by Government of India.
  • The policy will also provide land rebate of 75% for compound semiconductors, silicon photonics, sensors, ATMP, OSAT.
  • Along with dual grid network, 100% rebate is being given in electricity duty for 10 years.
  • There will also be a 50% discount on inter-state power purchase, transmission and wheeling charges for 25 years.
  • A provision has also been made to provide 100% exemption on stamp duty and registration fees and 5% interest subsidy every year (maximum Rs 7 crore).

Taiwan makes 60% of the world’s semiconductor chips The Indian semiconductor market was valued at $27.2 billion in 2021 and is expected to grow at 19% annually to $64 billion by 2026. According to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI), Taiwan accounts for 60% of global chip fabrication capacity (the ability to physically manufacture semiconductors).

The chip is made of silicon, it is like the brain of the gadget Semiconductor chips are made of silicon, which controls electricity in the circuit. This chip helps gadgets to operate like a brain. Any electronic instrument is incomplete without it. Computers, laptops, cars, washing machines, ATMs, hospital machines and even smartphones work on semiconductor chips.
