Cyclone Arnab LIVE Updates: Landfall Process Continues Along Andhra Coast; Heavy Rain, Strong Winds Lash Districts

Cyclone Arnab LIVE Updates: Cyclone Arnab remained largely stationary along the Andhra Pradesh coast early Wednesday, with landfall expected to continue for another two to three hours. The IMD warned of winds gusting up to 150 kmph and a storm surge threatening low-lying coastal areas. Heavy rainfall, uprooted trees, snapped power lines and flooding disrupted normal life, while police rescued stranded people in Kakinada.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation and directed officials to clear fallen trees, restore power after conditions improve and prevent tanks and canals from overflowing. Odisha also faces heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, according to IMD warnings.

Rainfall exceeding 200 mm was recorded at several locations. Kannuripalem in Anakapalli received 261.5 mm, while KVBR School in Vizianagaram recorded 259.74 mm and the 16th Police Battalion area in Visakhapatnam received 259.06 mm.

Police rescued stranded people in Kakinada, where flooding, fallen trees and disrupted power supply affected movement. The state converted 609 schools into rehabilitation centres, accommodating 854 people as of 5.50 am Wednesday.
