Imran was detained from August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai on 10 October.
Actor Imran Khan has got interim relief from the Bombay High Court till 3 pm on November 2 on the order to leave India.
Imran had reached the Cockroach Party demonstration at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai on October 10 to protest against SIR.
Actor Aamir Khan’s nephew Imran is an American citizen and OCI card holder, so he cannot participate in any protests in India.
On this, FRRO issued a notice asking him to leave the country by 28 October.
Imran Khan had filed a petition against this notice, calling it arbitrary. This was heard by the bench of Chief Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi and Justice Advait Sethna.
The central government said in the court that no action will be taken against the actor till the next hearing.

Imran Khan holds American citizenship and lives in India through Overseas Citizen of India Card.
Center asked for time, court postponed hearing till November 2
According to legal portal Bar & Bench, during the hearing, the Additional Solicitor General (ASG) on behalf of the Central Government sought more time to file the reply.
Describing the seriousness of the matter, Imran’s lawyer Venkatesh Dhond said that according to the notice, his client had to leave the country by Tuesday.
On this the ASG gave a verbal assurance that no action would be taken till the next hearing. After this, the bench postponed the execution of the notice till November 2 and fixed the date of next hearing.
CJP was detained during protests
This entire matter is related to the protest that took place on October 10 at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai. Protests were going on against SIR, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Mumbai Police had detained Imran Khan, his partner Lekha Washington and cousin Jain Marie Khan for being present at the protest site.

Imran had also shared the picture of the custody from the police van.
Received notice to leave the country on October 14
Four days after his detention, on October 14, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) issued a Leave India notice to Imran Khan. In this notice he was ordered to leave India by 28 October.
Imran had filed a petition against this in the High Court through his lawyers Zulfiqar Memon, Parvez Memon and Kunal Vajani.
It has been argued in the petition that before issuing any order, they were not given an opportunity to present their side nor was the process of show-cause notice followed.
In such a situation, this order given without any solid basis is completely illogical and arbitrary.

The whole controversy started with Kirit Somaiya’s complaint
This whole matter started after the complaint of former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya. Somaiya had written a letter to Mumbai Police and FRRO alleging that Imran Khan, being an American citizen, participating in the political protest is a direct violation of OCI rules and visa conditions.

Kirit Somaiya is the vice president of Maharashtra BJP. He has been a Member of Parliament (MP) of the 13th and 16th Lok Sabha from Mumbai North-East Lok Sabha constituency.
According to the Citizenship Act, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders get the facility to reside and move in India, but they are not allowed to have any political rights or participate in the movement in India. This entire legal action has started due to CJP’s participation in the protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Impact on the release of Imran’s comeback film
According to the report of Mid-Day, the release and promotion of Imran Khan’s comeback film ‘Adhure Hum Adhure Tum’ may be affected. The film was planned to be released on Netflix in December. Imran was going to start its promotion after Diwali, but due to the current situation, questions have been raised on the plan.
According to the report, the film team does not want to start promotions until the situation becomes clear. However, the official release date of the film has not been revealed yet.
Imran was last seen in the 2015 film ‘Katti Batti’. After almost 11 years, he is going to make a comeback with Bhumi Pednekar in the film ‘Adhure Hum Adhure Tum’.
