Ingredients for making Jaggery and Dry Fruits Doodh Peda
Milk: 1 liter (full cream)
Jaggery powder or grated jaggery: ½ cup (as per taste)
Dry fruits (almonds, cashews, pistachios): 2 tbsp (finely chopped)
Cardamom powder: ½ tsp
Butter: 1-2 tsp
easy method of making peda
First of all, put full cream milk in a heavy bottom pan and boil it on medium flame. After the milk starts boiling, reduce the flame and cook it while stirring continuously until it reduces to half (in the consistency of khoya or mawa).
Heat some butter in a separate pan and fry chopped almonds, cashews and pistachios until they become light golden. Then mix it in the milk mixture.
When the milk completely thickens and becomes mawa, turn off the gas flame. Let the mixture cool slightly. (Keep in mind: adding jaggery directly into boiling milk may cause the milk to curdle, so add jaggery powder or grated jaggery only when the mixture is lukewarm).
Now add cardamom powder to it and mix it well so that nice aroma and flavor comes.
When the mixture cools down slightly, apply some butter on your hands. Now take a small portion of this mixture, roll it into a round shape and press it lightly with your thumb to give it the shape of a peda.
Garnish by applying chopped pistachios or almonds on top.
Your delicious and healthy jaggery-dry fruits doodh peda is ready. This Diwali, make your family and guests sweet by making this.
