India Post has released the first merit list for the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment 2026, covering 23,757 vacancies for Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak posts. The list reveals significant variations in selection marks across states, post offices and reservation categories.

While general category candidates in Uttar Pradesh secured selection with 100% marks across the listed posts, an ST candidate was selected for an ABPM position in the Fatehgarh division with 83.5% marks. Candidates can check the circle-wise merit lists on the official India Post GDS recruitment portal.

India Post GDS Cut-Off 2026: State-Wise Highlights

Uttar Pradesh: General category cut-offs reached 100% across the listed BPM, ABPM and Dak Sevak posts. The ST cut-off was comparatively lower at some locations, including 83.5% for an ABPM post at Rohila Branch Post Office in the Fatehgarh division. OBC and EWS cut-offs in most divisions ranged from 98% to 100%, while SC cut-offs were generally between 96% and 100%.

Bihar: General category cut-offs exceeded 99% for several posts. The reported minimum was 99.2308% for an ABPM post at Salempur Dumaria Branch Post Office in Vaishali. An ST candidate secured an ABPM post at Garhouchak Branch Office in the Patna Sahib division with 89.3% marks.

Rajasthan: General category cut-offs reached 100% at many post offices. However, a postal servant post at Kankroli Head Post Office in Rajsamand recorded a cut-off of 98%. Some ST selections were made with marks between approximately 96% and 99%.

Delhi: The reported cut-offs for general, OBC, SC and EWS candidates reached 100% across the listed posts. The lowest reported ST cut-off for a Dak Sevak post was 96.5% at Mangolpuri N Block Sub-Post Office.

Madhya Pradesh: General category cut-offs reached 100% at many locations. ST cut-offs ranged from around 95% to 99%.

Jharkhand: General category cut-offs ranged from 99% to 100% across many divisions. Some ST candidates were selected with 95% marks.

What Happens After The First Merit List?

Shortlisted candidates must complete document verification within the prescribed deadline. They should carry their original Class 10 marksheet and passing certificate, applicable category certificate, identity proof and other documents specified in the official instructions.

Candidates who did not qualify in the first list should monitor the official portal for subsequent merit lists, if released.

GDS cut-offs vary by circle, division, post office, post and category. Therefore, selection marks for one vacancy should not be treated as the cut-off for an entire state.

Candidates can check the circle-wise merit lists on the official India Post GDS recruitment portal or engagement website by downloading the PDF for their respective state and searching for their registration number or name, as selection is based on Class 10 marks without a written examination.
