Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, praising his distinctive screen presence and contributions to Hindi and Marathi cinema.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condoled the death of veteran actor Nana Patekar, recalling his distinctive screen presence and his contribution to Hindi and Marathi cinema.
In a post on X, PM Modi praised Patekar’s range as an actor and said his performances had created characters that would continue to be remembered.

The Prime Minister also highlighted Patekar’s candid nature and his willingness to speak openly about his views.

“He was also admired for his frank and forthright views, never hesitating to express what he believed in,” he said.
Reacting to his death, PM Modi said Patekar’s work had left a lasting mark on Indian cinema.
“Shri Nana Patekar’s contribution to Hindi and Marathi cinema was immense. His passing leaves a deep void. My condolences to his family, friends and countless admirers. Om Shanti,” the Prime Minister said.
President Condoles Patekar’s Demise
Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu condoled the death of the veteran actor and said that the passing of Nana Patekar is “a great loss to the Indian cinema”.
“Deeply saddened by the passing of veteran actor Shri Nana Patekar. Through his powerful and deeply evocative performances, he brought to life a wide range of human experiences. He portrayed characters that left a lasting imprint on the hearts and minds of people. His commitment to social service reflected his concern for the underprivileged. His passing is a great loss to Indian cinema. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and admirers,” President Murmu said.
Nana Patekar Dies At 75
Patekar, 75, died in Goa on Thursday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula. He was found unconscious and subsequently rushed to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him with CPR for 45 minutes.
Dr Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital, said Patekar could not be revived despite the resuscitation efforts. A medico-legal case has been registered, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled.

Patekar’s acting career began with the 1978 film ‘Gaman’, and he went on to establish himself as a prominent actor in both Hindi and Marathi cinema. His notable films include ‘Parinda’, ‘Prahar’, ‘Krantiveer’, ‘Tiranga’, ‘Khamoshi’ and ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’.
He continued to work in films in recent years, appearing in ‘Housefull 5’, ‘O’Romeo’ and ‘Subedar’.
