Yami wrote, “A humble request to the media. Please refrain from altering or enhancing my photographs taken at public events through AI. Please use the photographs in their original form only. A person’s photograph or appearance should not be altered or manipulated using AI without their knowledge and consent. Thank you in advance for honoring my request!”

Bombay High Court’s order in favor of Samantha

The issue of misuse of photographs and identities of actresses is becoming increasingly important. Recently, the Bombay High Court had directed social media platforms to immediately remove objectionable content related to actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. This included deepfakes created by AI and advertisements created using his name and face without permission. The court accepted that commercial use of a celebrity’s identity without permission is not right.

After the video went viral, Junior NTR issued a statement on Saturday expressing strong displeasure over it. He wrote that I will take all possible legal action against those who made and spread this morphed video of ‘Chuttamalla’. I won’t leave any of them.

Vijay Deverakonda expressed displeasure over the deepfake video of ‘Chuttamalle’ and called it a very serious matter. He said that strict legal action should be taken against the makers of the video and they should not be spared.

He raised the question as to how people have become so insensitive towards humiliating each other. Vijay said that AI is being used for such nonsense amid the worry of people about losing their jobs.

He described such deepfakes as equivalent to digital sexual harassment and said that the law should take such cases very seriously.

Veteran actor Chiranjeevi of Telugu film industry has also condemned the misuse of AI. In a social media post, he described such content as cruel, shameful and completely unacceptable. He said that this is not a matter related to just one woman or film. Today it has happened to someone else, tomorrow it can happen to you, me or someone you know.

Chiranjeevi said that action should be taken under the law against those who make such videos and deliberately spread them. He also refused to consider it a joke or entertainment. He talked about forming a committee and support cell in collaboration with Telugu Film Chamber, Producers Council and industry organizations. This team will work with cyber crime officers.

He appealed to people to report the video to the relevant platforms and cyber crime authorities instead of watching, downloading or sharing the video.
