The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has said its campaign demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar will continue, despite a police case and a separate complaint over its Shivaji Park protest in Mumbai.
CJP co-founder Abhijeet Dipke said the youth-led movement would continue its fight to “save democracy”. His remarks came after Shivaji Park resident and advocate Siddhi Deolekar filed a complaint against Dipke and other CJP leaders over the October 2 demonstration.
Complaint Over Shivaji Park Protest
Deolekar alleged that CJP leaders went ahead with the protest despite Mumbai Police denying permission for the gathering. Her complaint names CJP co founder Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das and Ratna Singh, the party’s legal affairs head.
According to the complaint, the organisers proceeded with the demonstration and brought a large number of supporters to Shivaji Park despite the police denying permission. The complaint was filed after the CJP’s “Jail Bharo Andolan” at the venue on Friday.
Mumbai Police had earlier refused permission for the protest, citing concerns over noise pollution, traffic congestion and possible disruption to vehicular movement. Despite the denial, a large crowd gathered in and around Shivaji Park for the demonstration.
Following the protest, Mumbai Police registered Case No. 515/26 at Shivaji Park Police Station against the protest organisers and unidentified participants. The case has been registered under Sections 189 and 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 37(1)(3) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.

CJP Protested Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar

‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ On October 10
Following the Mumbai demonstration, Dipke announced another protest in Delhi.
He said that if Gyanesh Kumar does not resign, CJP supporters from across India will gather at Jantar Mantar on October 10. Dipke described the proposed demonstration as peaceful and urged citizens who support free and fair elections to join the movement.
The announcement came after Dipke had earlier warned of “Jantar Mantar 2.0″ if the CEC did not step down.
Police Case Registered
The complaint against the CJP leaders was followed by an FIR registered by Mumbai Police in connection with the Shivaji Park demonstration. Police have booked CJP organisers and around 400 to 500 unidentified supporters over allegations including unlawful assembly and disruption of traffic. No arrests had been reported in the case at the time of the latest reports.
Dipke, however, has maintained that the movement will continue and said the youth-led campaign would keep pushing its demands.
