A man was taken into custody after he allegedly entered the Santoshi Mata Temple near Dilsukhnagar Bus Depot and attacked the deity’s idol with a stick. The incident reportedly took place in the presence of devotees and the temple priest.

Following the incident, some Hindu organisations and BJP leaders gathered near the Dilsukhnagar Bus Stand and staged a protest demanding action.

According to police, the accused identified as Mohammed Ansari allegedly entered the temple, raised slogans of “Allahu Akbar” and struck the idol with a stick.

The temple priest and devotees present at the spot immediately caught hold of the man and alerted Chaitanyapuri Police through Dial 100. Police immediately reached the temple and took accused Ansari into custody before shifting him to the police station.

According to the LB Nagar DCP, Ansari is currently undergoing mental health treatment. Police said they have obtained details regarding the treatment he is receiving.

Further investigation is underway, and police personnel are present in the area to monitor the situation.
