- Missile deployment: Here Russia has deployed Iskander missile system carrying nuclear weapons. Apart from this, there are many modern weapons here.
- Military Surveillance: From here it is easy to keep an eye on Poland, Lithuania and the surrounding areas of the Baltic Sea.
- Security Shield for Russia: Russia believes that Kaliningrad plays an essential role in protecting its western border.

Several Russian embassies in Europe issued statements this week. It was said that Moscow has information that NATO is preparing an air and naval blockade of Kaliningrad and the entire region.
Russia accused European leaders of playing a dangerous game. Russia says that European leaders are continuously claiming that Moscow can attack another country or spread instability in other countries through drones and sabotage. Russia has called these allegations baseless.
NATO said- there is no preparation to attack Russia
NATO Has opposed Russia’s warning of the use of nuclear weapons. “We strongly condemn the threat of use of force and irresponsible nuclear statements,” NATO spokeswoman Alison Hart said Wednesday.
He said that NATO is not targeting Kaliningrad. NATO is a defensive alliance and its military activities do not threaten any territory of Russia.
NATO Chief Mark Rutte also asked Russia to stop threatening nuclear attacks. He claimed that Russia wants to divert the attention of member states and reduce the emphasis on helping Ukraine. But NATO will not allow this to happen.
