If you fall in love with someone in college, it seems like the story is just like this, but sometimes even before the love is complete, a new twist comes and then the same story returns after four years in a completely different world. The film ‘Prem Kitaanu’ deals with this love, friendship and changing colors of life in a light-hearted manner. The film makes you laugh, relates and in between also shows a little bitter truth of life. How is the story of the film? The story starts from the engineering college of Banaras. Vishal Thakur (Veer Pahadia) and Suhani (Aafia Syed) come face to face for the first time during admission. The first meeting turns into an argument and both of them curse each other that Vishal will not have a girlfriend for four years and Suhani will not have a boyfriend. After this both go to different colleges. During four years of college life, love comes into Vishal’s life, but things do not materialize. On the other hand, Suhani moves towards her studies and then career. After four years, both of their lives have moved from college to the world of work. Suhani gets a good job, while Vishal has to go through his own struggles in career and life. Then both of them meet and from here the old story opens again in new circumstances. The film not only asks whether the two will fall in love or not, but also looks at whether two people who have changed over time will be able to make a place in each other’s lives again. Along with this, friendship, family and responsibilities make the story a little bigger. How is the acting in the film? Veer Pahadia is comfortable in the role of Vishal. From a fun-loving college boy to a young man struggling with life’s problems, he keeps the character’s transformation natural. This is Afia Syed’s first film and she looks fresh in the character of Suhani. Her banter and chemistry with Veer looks good in the romantic parts of the film. Nikhil Vijay is the life of the film. Her comic timing as Magan Arora and her fights with Punch and Veer provide tremendous fun at many places. Where the story slows down a bit, Nikhil warms up the atmosphere again. Aparshakti Khurana has played his character in style and kept it interesting. Yes, if the writing of the character had been a little stronger, the impact of his performance could have increased. How is the direction of the film? Apoorva Singh Karki has kept the film light and youthful. The tone changes from college fun to a life full of job and responsibilities, but the film does not become excessively heavy. Writer Deepak Kingrani, who has received the National Film Award for Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai, has woven relationships, friendship and comedy in an effortless style. The good thing about the screenplay is that the story does not depend only on romance. Family and friendship also get a place. Yes, the pace slows down a bit in the middle and some twists and turns can be anticipated. Had there been a little more pause in the emotional parts, the impact of the story would have increased. Technically, the visual treatment of the film is colorful and youthful. The atmosphere of college and Banaras gives its own distinct feel to the story. How is the music of the film? ‘Kaho To’, ‘Tu Mera Raiyo’ and ‘Ishq Ka Ghulam’ support the romantic and youthful mood of the film well. The songs do not seem to detract from the story and maintain the feel of the film. Final Verdict on the film: ‘Prem Kitaanu’ is a good combination of the fun of love, the mischief of friendship and a little bitter sweetness of life. Nikhil Vijay makes us laugh a lot, Veer and Afia make a good pair. There is definitely a lack of tension, but this film is a good excuse to smile and remember the old college days.
