Relations between India and America have become stronger in the last one year. Especially in the field of energy, trade between the two countries has increased. America has now become the largest country to supply LPG to India. Senior US State Department official Bethany Morrison has given this information.
During an event at the New York Foreign Press Center, Morrison said India-America Talked about relationships. He said that the scope of partnership between the two countries has increased significantly in the last one year. Now India and America are working together in many areas including energy, defence, trade and diplomacy.
Morrison said that India is increasing supplies from different countries and sources for its energy needs. In such a situation, America has also emerged as a major energy supplier to India. He said, ‘We are proud that America is now the largest country exporting LPG to India. When India is diversifying its energy sources, we are happy that America is also becoming its supplier.
Morrison also mentioned the 10-year defense framework agreement between India and America. He said that along with defence, both the countries are also progressing in the field of nuclear energy. He said that after almost 20 years, India has passed SHANTI Act making changes in the rules related to its nuclear sector. This is expected to increase cooperation between India and America in the field of civil nuclear energy.
The American official said that cooperation between India and America is not limited to just energy and defense. Big trade agreements are also being signed between the two countries. Apart from this, both the countries are also working together on forums like Quad. Morrison said that the whole of South Asia is important for the Trump administration. According to him, earlier due to incidents happening in other parts of the world, South Asia was often given more attention only when a crisis arose here.
He said that the Trump administration considers South Asia as a very important region of the world and now America is paying more attention to this region.
