UP News: A shocking case of theft has come to light at a jewelers shop in Basta area of Bijnor. Two women who arrived here wearing burqa are accused of stealing more than 50 grams of gold jewelery from the shop on the pretext of buying jewellery. The shopkeeper has stated the value of the stolen gold to be around Rs 8 lakh. The incident was recorded in the CCTV camera installed in the shop, on the basis of which the police is investigating the matter.
The matter is of village Rasulpur Nangla of Basta area. Village resident Dinesh Verma, son of Rameshwar Verma has a jewelers shop in the village itself. His son also sits with Dinesh Verma at the shop.
It was told that at the time of the incident, Dinesh Verma had gone out of the shop for some time in the afternoon. Meanwhile, two women wearing burqa reached the shop. The women talked about buying gold and silver jewelery and started looking at different jewelery kept at the shop.
Started seeing nettles and golden cloves
The women sitting at the shop liked some jewelery and started trying them on. During this time, he asked the shopkeeper’s son to see other jewelery including nettles and gold cloves.
It is alleged that as soon as the shopkeeper’s son’s attention was diverted, the women hid some gold jewelery in their mouths in a very clever manner. After this, seeing the opportunity, he took out these ornaments from his mouth and hid them in his clothes.
For some time the women kept pretending to look at the jewelery and try it on. After this, both of them left the shop without making any purchases. Watch VIDEO:-
The entire incident was captured in CCTV
The activities of the women were recorded in the CCTV cameras installed in the shop. After the footage surfaced, the shopkeeper suspected that the gold had gone missing while he was looking at the jewellery.
On examining the CCTV footage, activities of women allegedly hiding their jewelery were also seen. After this the shopkeeper informed the police about the matter.
Shopkeeper told loss of around Rs 8 lakh
According to shopkeeper Dinesh Verma, more than 50 grams of gold jewelery was stolen in this incident. He has stated the value of the stolen gold to be around Rs 8 lakh. After the incident, there is an atmosphere of concern among the nearby shopkeepers.
Police registered a case, searching for the accused through CCTV footage.
In this case, the police have registered a case on the basis of the shopkeeper’s complaint and started investigation. Along with scanning the CCTV footage, the police is also gathering information about the identity of the women and their activities after leaving the shop.
What did the police tell ‘Aaj Tak’?
Chandpur area officer Desh Deepak Singh told ‘Aaj Tak’ that the matter is under cognizance. A case has been registered on the basis of the complaint. The matter is being investigated on the basis of CCTV camera footage and necessary action will be taken. At present, the police is trying to identify both the women on the basis of CCTV footage and other available evidence.
