Al Nassr, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, set a new record by scoring in 94 consecutive top-flight matches, surpassing Club Atlético River Plate’s 87-year-old record.

Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al Nassr have entered the history books after becoming the first team to score in 94 consecutive matches in a top-flight league, surpassing a record that had stood for 87 years.
The Saudi Pro League milestone was secured dramatically on Saturday, when substitute Abdullah Al-Hamdan rescued a 1-1 draw against Al Khaleej with a superb long-range strike. The goal extended Al Nassr’s scoring run beyond Buenos Aires-based Club Atlético River Plate’s previous record of 93 consecutive league matches, set between September 1936 and June 1939.
Al Nassr’s historic streak began on December 8, 2023, when they defeated Al Riyadh 4-1. Their previous league match without a goal was a 3-0 defeat to Al Hilal. Ronaldo and Co. have since maintained their scoring record across every Saudi Pro League fixture.
The draw against Al Khaleej also concluded Al Nassr’s preparations for their AFC Champions League Elite campaign. They will begin their continental campaign away to Al Ain on September 16.
Last season, Al Nassr competed in the AFC Champions League Two, reaching the final after winning all 10 matches before losing 1-0 to Gamba Osaka.
Ronaldo’s performances so far
Following Portugal’s early exit in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 41-year-old Ronaldo returned to Al-Nassr for what he has indicated will likely be his final season in professional football. Fresh off winning the Saudi Pro League in May 2026—his first major trophy in Riyadh—Ronaldo is looking to defend the title in his 25th professional campaign.
Although he missed the season opener against Al-Fateh after returning from his wedding to Georgina Rodriguez, he quickly made an impact upon his return. In his first post-World Cup appearance on August 21, Ronaldo came off the bench to score his 977th career goal, proving his legendary finishing ability remains intact. Over his first handful of league appearances in the 2026-27 season, he has already found the back of the net three times.
