Tank exploded during army exercise on Wednesday.
A Type 59 tank made in China exploded during an army firing practice in Chittagong, Bangladesh on Wednesday. Two soldiers present inside the tank died in the accident. An army officer is seriously injured.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR), the soldiers were firing from the tank when the accident occurred.
The injured officer is being taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka for better treatment. The reason for the accident is not clear yet.

The accident took place at Hathazari Field Firing Range. Military exercises were going on here. In the picture, two soldiers are seen on the tank.

The tank involved in the accident is Type-59 made in China, which is used by the Bangladesh Army. The Type-59 is an old main battle tank made in China. It is also considered to be the first tank of China which was produced in large numbers.
Apart from China, armies of many countries like Pakistan, Iran, North Korea have used it. Bangladesh is also included in these.

The design of Type-59 is quite old
The Type-59 military tank is quite old, but with time many new versions and upgrades have been produced. To these, better cannons, fire-control systems, night vision facilities and equipment to enhance the tank’s safety were added.
Bangladesh has also upgraded its old T-59 tanks. The Daily Star reported in 2015 that Bangladesh was working on plans to upgrade about 174 T-59 tanks of its army.
