A Guwahati man accused of killing his wife, beheading her and allegedly keeping her severed head inside a refrigerator on Tuesday, made a chilling confession that he has “no regrets” over the crime.
Ramanuj Goswami, who allegedly lived with his wife’s partially decomposed body inside their flat in Guwahati’s Beltola area for three days, told reporters that he would kill the person he described as his wife’s “Sugar Daddy” if he is released.
“No regrets and no apologies. If I come out, then I shall kill the Sugar Daddy,” the accused said.
Goswami has been arrested after surrendering before the police and has been remanded in seven days of police custody. The postmortem report of his wife, Riya Talukdar, is awaited.
Police Find Woman’s Decapitated Body
According to police, Talukdar’s partially decomposed and decapitated body was found inside the couple’s flat, while her severed head was recovered from a refrigerator, wrapped in a plastic bag.
Police said family members had alerted them after they were unable to contact the couple for around two days. A team from Hatigaon police station subsequently reached the flat and found the door open.
“We received information from family members of the couple that they were not able to contact the duo for the past two days. Accordingly, a team from Hatigaon police station went to their flat. The door of the house was open, and the wife’s body was found lying on the floor, with the head severed,” a police officer said.

The officer said Goswami, who is the prime suspect, surrendered to police and confessed to the killing.
According to his account, the couple had a fight on September 3 that continued into the early hours of September 4, following which he allegedly lost his temper and killed his wife.
“Goswami, who is the prime suspect, has surrendered and confessed to the crime. He claimed that they had a fight on September 3, which went on till the early hours of the next day. He lost his temper at one point and killed her,” the officer said.
Police have also recovered the ‘dao’ (machete) allegedly used in the crime from the house.
Goswami has alleged that his wife was involved in an extramarital relationship, which he claimed had led to repeated arguments between the couple. Police, however, said they were still verifying his claims.
“We are verifying the facts as claimed by the husband. Detailed interrogation is yet to be done. We are examining the circumstances leading to the crime. Further details can be shared after thorough investigation,” the officer said.
Talukdar had until recently worked at a boutique, while Goswami is a cab driver. The couple had been married for less than a year and lived in a flat built on land owned by Goswami’s family.
