Reports have emerged over a reported Iranian missile attack on a US military base in Jordan, with Tehran appearing to acknowledge the strike while American officials have denied that any such firing was detected.
The official X account of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai posted shortly after reports of the alleged attack emerged: “The best way to stop an attack is to attack the attackers first.”
“Our forces struck a U.S. base in #Jordan that was preparing to strike us. In the Middle East, even the preemptive strike now needs a preemptive strike,” the official Iranian government account on X added.
Earlier, Iranian state media have also reported missile launches towards US forces in Jordan. Al Arabiya reported that Iranian missiles were intercepted over northern Jordan, following reports of launches from Isfahan and other parts of Iran.
Videos shared online appear to show air defence activity over Jordan. However, the footage has not been independently verified, and its exact timing and location remain unclear.
The reports have also been disputed by a US official. Speaking to Israel’s Channel 14a senior US official said, “We do not recognise at this stage firing on US bases in Jordan.”
