Mandal has submitted a written complaint at the Turki police station against unidentified persons, seeking action in the matter.
Chain Goes Missing Amid Scuffle During Welcome
According to the information available, a large number of party workers and supporters had gathered at Sakri Chowk to welcome Nishant Kumar during his visit to Muzaffarpur.
As the minister’s convoy reached the area, supporters competed to greet him with garlands and bouquets. JDU leader Rajesh Mandal, a resident of Ladoura in Kurhani block, also moved through the crowd to garland the minister.
Mandal said that there was considerable pushing and shoving while he was near the minister. It was during this time that the gold chain he was wearing went missing.
Leader Notices Chain Missing After Crowd Disperses
Mandal reportedly did not realise that his chain was missing amid the commotion. After the programme ended and the crowd began to disperse, he touched his neck and discovered that the chain was no longer there.
He immediately informed leaders and police personnel present at the spot. The matter was subsequently reported to Turki police.
Written Complaint Filed Against Unidentified Persons
Mandal has filed a written application at the Turki police station, requesting action against unidentified persons.
In his complaint, he said the chain may have been pulled off during the crowding. He also said it was possible that the chain could have broken and fallen during the pushing and shoving.
However, he said he was not certain how exactly the chain went missing and maintained that the incident occurred during the minister’s welcome programme.
Police are investigating the reported disappearance of the gold chain, valued at around Rs 7 lakh.
