Delhi prepares for the 18th BRICS Summit, NDMC sets up a 24/7 command centre. Traffic personnel deployed, diversions expected Sept 10-14.

Where Will The BRICS Summit Be Held? The main summit venue is Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan in Central Delhi. The venue will be at the centre of the security and traffic arrangements as motorcades carrying visiting leaders and delegates move between their hotels and the summit site.
Delhi is stepping up preparations for the 18th BRICS Summit, with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) setting up a round-the-clock command centre to monitor civic services and respond to issues during the high-profile event.
The Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC) at Palika Kendra will operate from September 5 to 14, according to an NDMC order. Officials from civic departments will work in shifts, while dedicated officers will remain available at night to handle emergencies and coordinate with agencies including Delhi Police, Traffic Police and the CPWD.
India will host the BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam on September 12 and 13. Foreign delegations are expected to begin arriving in Delhi from September 10.
4,800 Traffic Personnel Deployed
Traffic movement across parts of central, south and southwest Delhi is likely to be affected from September 10 to 14. Around 4,800 traffic personnel have been deployed to manage the movement of foreign delegations and dignitaries.
Officials said traffic arrangements could affect at least 22 arterial roads, with diversions and temporary stoppages expected during VIP movements. Commuters have been advised to allow extra travel time.
Traffic authorities have also raised concerns over the Egyptian delegation staying in Saket, citing existing congestion and roadwork in the area. They have suggested shifting the delegation’s accommodation to central Delhi to ease movement.
NDMC Steps Up Civic Preparations
The NDMC has divided 41 major roads into 14 circles, each under a nodal officer responsible for daily inspections. Special sanitation teams will be deployed, while the civic body will also focus on potholes, drainage, public toilets, road signs and removal of encroachments.
The council will coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs, Delhi government and other agencies to ensure smooth arrangements during the summit.
