Sergio Gore addressed the 66th annual session of ACMA on 2 September in New Delhi.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore has given a big statement regarding India-US relations. He said that many other countries are ‘jealous’ of the strengthening relations between the two countries.
Gore said that US President Trump considers Prime Minister Modi as his friend and Modi’s name will be on the top among the leaders he wants to meet during the G20 summit in December.

Separate meeting of Modi-Trump possible in G20
Sergio Gore said in an interview to India Today that Trump and Modi have a good personal relationship. In such a situation, there may be a separate meeting between the two leaders when Modi reaches Florida for the G20 summit in December.
However, a separate bilateral meeting between Modi and Trump has not been officially announced yet. Gore also hinted at the possibility of Trump visiting India in 2027. He said that Trump still remembers his visit to India in 2020.
According to the US Ambassador, whenever Trump talks about India, he remembers his meeting with the people here and his relationship with Prime Minister Modi.
Gore said that next year is not long away. However, he did not give any date or official program of Trump’s visit to India.
Said on trade deal – very close to agreement
Regarding the proposed trade deal between India and America, Gore said that both the countries are very close to the agreement. Following a decision by the US Supreme Court, issues related to the deal are being reworked. He hopes that both the countries can finalize the agreement in the next few months.
Gore said it was normal for such a large trade deal to take time. Citing the example of the long-running trade talks between the US and the EU, he said major trade agreements could take years.
Trade of 240 billion dollars, target of 500 billion dollars
According to Gore, there is currently a trade of about 240 billion dollars between India and America. The aim of both the countries is to increase it to 500 billion dollars in the coming years.
He said that both the countries can benefit economically from the trade deal. America wants to work together with a strong and stable India.
It is clear from Gore’s statement that along with trade, friendship and strategic partnership is also important in India-America relations.
