Getting a Delhi fire NOC or fire safety certificate could become quicker as the government plans to process applications and renewals within 30 days through the Delhi Single Window System. The proposal is part of the government’s ease of doing business drive and aims to reduce the time taken for fire-related approvals. Under the proposed service level agreement, applications will be scrutinised and premises physically inspected within fixed timelines.
The Delhi Single Window System already offers 95 government services across departments, including fire safety certificates and their renewals for different types of occupancies.
HOW THE FIRE SAFETY CERTIFICATE PROCESS WILL WORK
For occupancies covered under Rule 27 of the Delhi Fire Service Rules, 2010, the proposed turnaround time for a fire safety certificate and its renewal is 30 days.
The application scrutiny will be completed within three days. After that, the physical inspection process will move through different levels:
- Assistant divisional officer: 10 days
- Divisional officer: five days
- Deputy chief fire officer: four days
- Chief fire officer: four days
- Principal director: four days for issuing the fire safety certificate
This creates a fixed timeline from application scrutiny to the final fire NOC or certificate.
FIRE NOC RENEWAL TO GO ONLINE
Online renewal of fire NOCs is also proposed to be completed within 30 days once an integrated online system of the Delhi Fire Service is commissioned. The system is expected to be ready around the end of the year.
The Delhi Single Window System already provides access to fire-related services, including fire NOCs required for setting up explosives manufacturing units and permissions to store explosives and flammable materials.
EXPLOSIVES NOC TO TAKE 15 DAYS
The proposed timeline is shorter for some specialised approvals.
A fire NOC for setting up explosives manufacturing units will have a turnaround time of 15 days. Permission to store explosives and flammable materials will also take 15 days.
However, where physical inspection is required for permission to store explosives and flammable materials, the proposed timeline will increase to 30 days.
The overall plan aims to bring fire-related approvals under clearer timelines and reduce the end-to-end processing time through the single window system.
