In a major administrative restructuring aimed at streamlining temple management and logistics, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has appointed former Indian Air Force (IAF) officer Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra (Retd) as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ram Mandir Trust in Ayodhya. Air Marshal Mishra played a key role in commanding air exercises during Operation Sindoor.

The decision to bring in a seasoned military administrator underscores the trust’s focus on enhancing operational discipline, crowd management, infrastructure expansion, and security oversight as millions of devotees continue to visit the holy shrine daily.

Military Background and Administrative Expertise

Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra brings decades of high-level administrative, operational, and strategic planning experience from his tenure in the Indian Air Force. Having served in critical logistics, personnel management, and defence administration roles, his background is tailored to managing complex systems and large-scale public operations.

  • Strategic Management: Extensive expertise in executing large-scale logistics and managing high-density operations under demanding conditions.
  • Security & Coordination: Proven track record in multi-agency coordination, security protocols, and operational discipline.
  • Institutional Governance: Deep experience in resource allocation and infrastructure oversight within rigid defence frameworks.

Mandate and Core Responsibilities

As CEO of the temple complex, Air Marshal Mishra will oversee the daily administrative framework of the 70-acre Ram Janmabhoomi premises. His mandate focuses on professionalising management functions while preserving the spiritual sanctity of the pilgrimage site.

Key focus areas under his administrative charge include:

  • Crowd Control & Pilgrim Welfare: Implementing seamless queue management systems and entry-exit protocols to handle heavy footfalls safely.
  • Infrastructure Completion: Coordinating the remaining phase of construction across the broader temple complex, including auxiliary shrines and visitor amenities.
  • Security Integration: Working alongside state police, central security forces, and internal security teams to maintain an airtight perimeter.
  • Operational Efficiency: Streamlining staff management, sanitation drives, IT infrastructure, and pilgrim facilitation centres.

Strategic Shift in Temple Governance

The induction of a former armed forces officer signals a deliberate shift towards institutionalised management for India’s prominent religious complexes. By appointing a veteran with extensive command experience, the trust aims to establish standard operating procedures matching global benchmark standards for public venue management.

Air Marshal Mishra’s appointment is expected to bolster ongoing efforts to transform Ayodhya into a world-class pilgrimage hub equipped to handle massive seasonal surges seamlessly.
