US-Iran War News LIVE: The US and Iran have exchanged fresh threats on Wednesday following some of the most intense military exchanges in weeks, with a US strike on a wedding party in southern Iran emerging as the sharpest flashpoint.
US President Donald Trump said US forces carried out a “very heavy attack” on Iranian targets overnight and warned they were “prepared to do another one any time we want.” He also floated — then walked back — the idea of renaming the Strait of Hormuz as “Trump Strait.”
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council chief Mohsen Rezaei warned that Tehran would adopt a “new strategy” on the battlefield, in diplomacy and in response to the economic blockade. “You will soon see that Iran’s new strategy… will shatter your foundations,” he said.
Iran accused the US of striking a wedding party in Sirik, killing four people, including a child, and wounding more than 50. Tehran called the attack a “war crime”, while the US military said it never targets civilians.
Iran retaliated by targeting US bases in Jordan, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and Iraq’s Kurdistan region.
