Twelve people died in rain-related incidents across Uttarakhand on Tuesday, according to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

The Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in three districts, including Dehradun, on Wednesday.

Orange Alert Issued For Three Districts

The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Dehradun, Nainital and Bageshwar on Wednesday. The weather is also expected to be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

A Yellow Alert has been issued for the remaining districts of the state, with heavy rainfall forecast at isolated locations.

District Administrations Asked To Remain Vigilant

In view of the weather warning, officials said district administrations have been directed to exercise caution and remain prepared to take immediate action in the event of any incident.

The alert comes after several parts of Uttarakhand recorded extremely heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours.

Nainital Records Heavy Rainfall

Nainital district recorded very heavy rainfall at several locations during this period. Nainital city received 217 mm of rainfall, while Bhimtal recorded 161 mm and Mukteshwar 140 mm.

Other rainfall figures recorded in the district include 122 mm in Haldwani, 114 mm in Dhari, 105 mm in Kainchi Dham, 93.5 mm in Kushyakutoli, 92 mm in Khansyu and 80.5 mm in Betalghat.

Rainfall Recorded In Other Districts

Jhulaghat in Pithoragarh recorded 78.5 mm of rainfall, while Champawat received 74 mm and Kaladhungi in Nainital district recorded 66.5 mm.

Other districts across the state also experienced moderate to heavy rainfall.
