At least four people were killed and more than 34 others were injured after a US strike hit a house where a wedding ceremony was taking place in Sirik County in southern Iran’s Hormozgan province, Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reported on Tuesday.

The strike reportedly hit a residential home in Bandar Kuhestak, a coastal area in Sirik County. Iranian officials said rescue teams were sent to the site and continued assisting the injured.

Ahmad Nafisi, deputy governor of Hormozgan province, had earlier said two people were killed and several others wounded in the attack.

“A residential home was attacked while people were holding a wedding ceremony,” Nafisi told Iranian state television, according to state media.

The death toll was later raised to four, with Fars reporting that more than 34 people were heavily injured. The updated figures have not been independently verified.
