Brishti Mukherjee, niece of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was found hanging in her house in Kusumba village of Birbhum district on Tuesday. The CBI had arrested former state education minister Partha Chatterjee, his close aide Arpita Mukherjee and some SSC officials in the case of recruitment irregularities. Arpita was a model by profession. The Supreme Court has given relief in the teacher recruitment scam case. In the order given on March 17, 2025, the Supreme Court has given relief to about 26,000 dismissed teachers. The court had said that the teachers whose appointment has been canceled can continue teaching until the new selection process is completed. However, his name may not have appeared in the 2016 scam case.
