Actress Bhumi Pednekar has expressed strong protest against the case of gang rape of a 16-year-old minor girl inside a sleeper bus running in Delhi-NCR.
By sharing a post on her Instagram account, she has raised questions on the safety of women in the country. Bhumi wrote that how such incidents can happen again and again, it is extremely shameful.
Minor raped after making her sit in the wrong bus According to Delhi Police, the 11th class student, resident of Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, had left her home to go to Noida. She got stuck due to rain and darkness at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida.
Meanwhile, the conductor of a private sleeper bus tricked him and made him sit in the bus. There were no other passengers on the bus. As soon as the route started, the bus driver and conductor brutalized the minor and threatened to kill him if he protested.
The incident took place on August 4, the police informed about it on August 31. On the basis of CCTV footage, police seized the bus from Timarpur and arrested both the accused.
Bhumi has already spoken on women’s safety and student protest This is not the first time that Bhumi Pednekar has spoken on the issue of crimes and security against women. Earlier, she had also been quite vocal during the student protest against NEET-UG paper leak at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
At that time, when a minor girl student, who had abused Prime Minister Modi during the protest, started receiving rape and death threats on social media, Bhumi had openly supported her. Bhumi had then said that women or any girl in the country should not face such threats if they raise their voice.

Understand the Delhi gangrape incident in a sequential manner
1. The victim came out of the house after fighting.
According to the police, the victim is a resident of Mainpuri, UP. When there was a fight in the family, she left for her cousin’s house in Noida by bus without informing her. The distance from Mainpuri to Noida is more than 300 km.
2. Had landed at Greater Noida
Due to heavy rain and darkness, the student had accidentally got down at Pari Chowk. Then she started waiting for the vehicle to go to Noida from here. Meanwhile, an empty sleeper bus passed by there. The student signaled the bus to stop.
3. The driver-conductor boarded the bus
The driver and conductor made the student sit in the bus. He told that the bus is going to Noida Sector-63. According to the police, sometime after the bus started, the conductor tried to do obscene acts with the student.
4. Then gangraped and threatened
The student told the police that the driver and conductor raped her. If he protested, both of them threatened to kill him.
5. Left near Kashmiri Gate and absconded
It is alleged that both of them dropped the student late at night on the Ring Road near Kashmiri Gate Bus Terminal. After this both of them fled from there. The student contacted Kashmiri Gate Police in the night itself and informed about the incident.
6. Both the accused arrested
According to the victim’s complaint, investigators formed a team under the leadership of Kotwali ACP Shankar Banerjee. The team examined CCTV footage along the route to identify the bus and track its route.
Police arrested driver Kuldeep and conductor Sandeep from a bus parking in Timarpur. The sleeper bus used in the incident was also seized. Forensic investigation of the bus is being done.

NHRC took cognizance, questions raised on police also After this matter came to light, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has also taken cognizance and summoned a report from the concerned authorities. At the same time, questions have also been raised regarding the jurisdiction between Delhi Police and Uttar Pradesh Police regarding this incident. UP Police alleges that the incident started in Gautam Buddha Nagar Commissionerate area, but Delhi Police did not share complete information with them in time.
