- West Bengal CM Announces Ticket Refund For Lionel Messi Kolkata Event

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced to refund the ticket money to about 33 thousand spectators who came to Lionel Messi’s Kolkata event. He said that the refund process has started. The payment will be made from the state sports budget.
This event of Messi took place in December last year at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. The spectators faced problems due to the huge crowd and chaos here. Many people could not see Messi properly due to the gathering of VIPs and officials near the ground.
The ticket price was between 4 to 8 thousand rupees. The Chief Minister said that many common people had even spent their savings to buy tickets. Giving the example of a delivery worker, he said that he had saved his entire year to visit Macy’s.

Talk about ending political interference in sports organizations
The Chief Minister also raised questions on political interference in sports administration. He said that the responsibility of running sports organizations should be with people who understand sports.
He announced a budget of Rs 400 crore to increase sports facilities in the state. Under this, there is a plan to build mini indoor stadiums named Sri Aurobindo Stadium in all 294 assembly constituencies. A target has been set to build 100 stadiums this year.

Police job appointment letters to 8 players
The Chief Minister said that the files related to the appointment of players pending in the Chief Minister’s Office since 2015 have now been approved. In the program, 8 players were given appointment letters as police constables.
Apart from this, a total prize money of Rs 4.31 crore was given to 145 sports personalities. This amount has been given under new sports welfare schemes like ‘Atal Khel Samman’.

Messi’s ‘GOAT India Tour’ event was held at Salt Lake Stadium. Fans were angry due to the huge chaos in the program. A crowd of VIPs, leaders and officials had gathered near the ground. Due to this, many spectators could not see Messi properly.
As the situation worsened, a commotion started in the stadium. Angry fans threw chairs and bottles. Due to security reasons, Messi left the stadium after about 15-20 minutes.
