India objected to these comments of USCIRF. On August 20, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had described the Commission as a ‘biased institution’. He said that USCIRF has been making wrong and provocative statements about India for a long time, hence there is no need to take its words seriously. March report recommends action against RSS and RAW USCIRF had also expressed concern about religious freedom in India in its annual report in March. The report recommended banning some organizations and people including RSS and RAW. India had rejected the report as ‘distorted and selective’.
