According to Sardar Jasbir Singh, member of Balochistan Gurdwara Singh Sabha, the entire Sikh community is opposing it, but till now the government is not taking any action. He told that there were once 12 Gurudwaras in Balochistan, out of which only 2 are left now.
There is strong protest in India also against the demolition of the Gurudwara. BJP’s national spokesperson RP Singh said that this is an attempt to destroy the heritage of Sikhs in Pakistan. Akal Takht Sahib should take up the matter with the Government of Pakistan and an independent investigation should be conducted.

School was opened in 200 year old Gurudwara
Later, St. Gabriel’s School was running in the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara premises located on Archer Road, Quetta. According to Sikh community leader Sardar Jasbir Singh, now the same Gurudwara is being demolished and a shopping plaza is being constructed here. The matter reached the Balochistan High Court, but the court has refused to stop the construction at present.
Land sold to private builder
According to the Sikh community, this land was property belonging to Shri Guru Singh Sabha. It is alleged that the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) sold it to a private builder. Now the question is arising that on what basis did ETPB get the right to sell this religious property and what was the process of selling the land? An official reply on this is yet to come from the Government of Pakistan or ETPB.

- Demand to stop construction of mall immediately: BJP National Spokesperson RP Singh demanded immediate stop of the construction of the mall on the land of Gurudwara Sahib. He said that reconstruction and preservation of the historic Gurudwara complex should be ensured. Also demanded protection of remaining Sikh religious places and their properties not only in Balochistan but in entire Pakistan.
- Action should be taken against those who demolished Gurudwara: RP Singh condemned the demolition of Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Sahib and demanded action against those responsible for it. He said that removing a religious place and building commercial construction there is a serious matter. He also raised the demand for a complete and independent investigation into the Gurudwara demolition.
- Appeal to take up the matter with Akal Takht Sahib: RP Singh appealed to Sri Akal Takht Sahib’s Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj to take immediate cognizance of the matter. He said that a clear and strong stand should be taken on matters related to Sikh religious heritage in Pakistan. He says that there is a need to raise voice seriously regarding the preservation of historical Gurudwaras.
- It is not just a building, it is a question of Sikh heritage: RP Singh said that the matter is not limited to just one building or land. Gurdwaras are centers of Sikh history, religious tradition and memories associated with Guru Sahiban. He demanded to preserve Nishan Sahib and sites related to Sikh religious heritage and appealed to the Pakistan government to fix accountability in this matter.
