A woman from Banaskantha district of Gujarat has made serious allegations against four people. A 30-year-old pregnant woman alleges that three brothers and their uncle repeatedly raped and beat her. The woman also alleged that the accused recorded a private video of her without her knowledge and later kept blackmailing her through the same video. According to the woman, the accused also pressured her to change her religion.

This matter came to light after the victim woman lodged a complaint on August 20. Police have registered a case against accused Akhtar Rajabshah Faqir, his brothers Arif and Ilyas as well as their uncle Salimshah Jumashah Faqir. Action has been taken against the accused under sections of the Indian Justice Code related to rape, criminal intimidation and assault. Other than this Gujarat A case has also been registered under the Freedom of Religion Act.

According to the FIR, the woman was about five months pregnant and was allegedly sexually and physically assaulted several times last month. The woman alleges that Akhtar was an acquaintance of her estranged husband. He contacted the woman and said that her grandfather could cure her health problems through ‘Tantric’ methods. After this, Akhtar started coming closer to the woman and the contact between the two increased.

The woman told the police that even before this she had filed a case of sexual harassment against Akhtar and his relatives. Three people, including Akhtar, were arrested in this case registered at Palanpur East police station in April. According to the woman, Arif and Ilyas, who were absconding at that time, had threatened to kill her and kidnap her daughters.

The woman alleges that pressure was put on her due to alleged threats to kill her and kidnap her daughters. Under this pressure, he filed an affidavit in the Gujarat High Court and agreed to the settlement. After this, on June 16, Akhtar and other accused arrested in this case were released from jail.

After release, the woman went with Akhtar to Pangia village in Dhanera taluka. According to the FIR, the woman hoped that the ongoing dispute between the two would end and they would be able to live together peacefully. However, the woman alleges that even after reaching there her condition did not change. She claimed that despite being pregnant, Akhtar allegedly continued to sexually harass and assault her.

According to the woman, Akhtar also used to pressure her to talk to other men on phone. When he refused to do so, he was allegedly threatened. The woman alleges that she was threatened to make the private video recorded without her knowledge public. The accused reportedly said that the video would be circulated on social media.

The woman alleged that she was continuously blackmailed through this private video. Along with this, she has accused the three brothers and their uncle of repeatedly raping her. Based on the complaint, the police have registered the allegations in the FIR and now the entire matter is being investigated.

The woman has also accused the four accused of pressurizing her for religious conversion. According to the FIR, the accused allegedly called a local Maulvi and tried to conduct ‘Nikah’ of the woman. The woman claims that during this time she was also given a drink laced with intoxicating substances.

According to the woman, after this her name was changed to ‘Fiza’. She also alleged that the accused threatened to bring her daughters who were living with their maternal grandparents. The woman claims that her daughters were also threatened with forced religious conversion.

The woman alleged that on July 21, all four men assaulted her and threw her out of the house. According to the woman, the accused also refused to take responsibility for her and the child in her womb. After this she sought help from a shopkeeper and then contacted women’s helpline 181.

With the help of the woman’s mother, she was later taken to Lakhni. After this he lodged a complaint with the police and informed about the entire incident. Taking the matter seriously, the police have registered a case under laws related to rape, assault, criminal intimidation and religious conversion.

Banaskantha Police Inspector SD Chaudhary said that further investigation has been started in the matter. The police is investigating all the allegations and incidents made in the complaint. At present no accused has been arrested in this case.

The police will now investigate the evidence related to the allegations made by the woman, the case registered earlier, alleged threats, blackmailing through private videos and allegations of religious conversion. The further picture of the case will be clear only after the investigation is completed. According to the police, at present all the allegations have been registered in the complaint and FIR and their investigation is going on.
