Iran’s Parliament has approved the proposal to collect toll from ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, ships from countries whose ships are allowed to pass through Hormuz will be charged a fee for maritime services.
According to Hassan Kashkavi, spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, facilities like maritime services, security and insurance will be provided in exchange for the fees.
Apart from this, environmental services and fuel will also be provided in special circumstances. Payment can be made in Iranian Rial or any other currency of Iran’s choice.
US Finance Minister said- Economic war begins against Iran
US Finance Minister Scott Besant said that the Trump administration has now reached the last phase of the economic war against Iran. According to Besant, America’s aim is to close Iran’s major sources of income.
Besant said that America will use all its government agencies and powers to increase pressure on Iran. He described this campaign as ‘Economic D-Day’.
Earlier, Trump had called it the biggest economic action against an adversary country and appealed to other countries to help in isolating Iran.
Iran’s warning to Gulf countries – if they support America, they will be considered enemies
Iran has warned the Gulf countries supporting America’s economic actions. Iran’s new national security chief Mohsen Rezaei said that any country that supports America in imposing economic sanctions on Iran will be considered an enemy.
Trump has declared Hormuz as American territory
US President Donald Trump has described the Strait of Hormuz as ‘New US Territory’. On August 18, he spoke for the first time about American control over Hormuz.
After this, he again shared such a picture on Sunday, in which Hormuz was shown as American territory.
Trump posted on Truth Social and described the Strait of Hormuz as American territory.
Hormuz divided into two paths after the war
Before the war started, Hormuz was considered the only sea route. Ships used to pass through fixed routes. Their route was decided by looking at the port, the settlement of the ship and the safety. But after the tension between America and Iran increased, there was talk of two different paths.
Iranian way: It is near the coast of Iran in the northern part of Hormuz. It passes close to Larak and Qishm islands and goes to Iran’s ports and oil terminals.
Omani way: It is in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz, close to Oman and off the coast of Iran. America insists on ships passing through this route. Many commercial ships operating under the protection of the US Navy also use this route.
