A 70-year-old man was arrested in Hathras for raping his minor granddaughter over three months, leaving her two months pregnant.

A 70-year-old man has been arrested for raping his minor granddaughter at his home in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras over a period of three months, police said. The girl is now two months pregnant.

The matter came to light after the girl complained of severe stomach pain and was taken to a private clinic, where a medical test confirmed that she was pregnant. She subsequently told her father about the alleged sexual assault.

Girl Assaulted Over Three Months

According to the police, the girl told them that her grandfather first raped her a few days after she returned from her maternal uncle’s house. Other family members were away from home at the time.

Despite her protests, the grandfather allegedly continued to sexually assault her on subsequent occasions over the following three months.

The girl’s mother died six years ago, while her father works as a labourer. She had been staying at her maternal uncle’s house and returned home around four months ago.

Father Took Girl To Clinic After Stomach Pain

The police said the girl complained of severe stomach pain to neighbours on Saturday. They informed her father, who was away at work.

Her father then took her to a nearby private clinic, where a doctor conducted a test and found that she was pregnant. The girl then disclosed the alleged sexual assault to her father.

Later on Saturday, the girl went to the police station with her father and filed a complaint against her grandfather.

Grandfather Arrested

Police arrested the 70-year-old accused after the complaint was filed.

“We have arrested the victim’s grandfather in the case. The victim’s detailed medical examination is being conducted,” a police officer said.

The investigation is underway, and the girl’s medical examination is being conducted as part of the probe.
