An earthquake of 5.9 magnitude occurred in Japan’s capital Tokyo and the surrounding Kanto area on Sunday. At least 37 people have been injured in this. One of these persons is seriously injured.

After the earthquake, emergency alerts were issued on mobile phones and strong tremors were also felt in Tokyo. NHK public television showed normal traffic on roads in nearby cities including Mito and Saitama.
An underground water pipeline broke in Koto, Tokyo’s eastern ward. But later the pipeline was repaired and the leakage of water stopped.
